About Studio82

Hi,I am Yin Lei, the host of Studio82 Patterns. I am a garment pattern maker and a tailor from Shanghai.

 

I grew up in the sound of my gramma’s sewing machine. I knew the passion of sewing and design was in my blood when I grabbed  a shear and remade a skirt for myself when I was 5 years old. Even the waves of life pushed me away for living , but I managed to come back.

 

In 2017, I engaged in advanced courses of traditional Cheongsam skill  at Dong-Hua University which is known as the  high-level institution with a focus on textile, material, and design in Asia. I was mentored by Wu Ling Di , the successor of last master of Shanghai Style Cheongsam ( Jin Tai Jun ) about the pattern making and unique Cheongsam sewing skills.

 

My work focused on the Traditional Han Chinese Apparel. I started my business by customizing sewing pattern for individual client online. Afterwards, I started to provide tailors and sewing crafter pre-graded block patterns by providing many different garments design about Han Chinese Costume in different historical generation of China. By now, they are mostly Cheongsam in early 20’ century.
